Applied
Corporate Financial Management provides the beginning finance
student with the entire range of analytic tools, which are necessary
to perform at a high level as a professional financial analyst.
The focus of this manual and text is on brevity, key concepts,
and mathematical analytics, which are made simple. A basic high
school level facility with algebra is all that is needed.
This book, now in its third, expanded edition, captures the connection
between accounting data and the financial and analytic use of
the data, while exploring the pitfalls contained therein. A great
deal of time is spent on the theory of interest or "time value
of money," the most essential thread of the discipline. A thorough
and applied treatment is provided for capital budgeting techniques;
methodological critiques are provided for each method and the
competing techniques are evaluated versus one another. Additionally,
securities valuation and capital structure are presented within
the context of the corporate environment.
Problems and solutions are provided throughout the manual so that
the student learns not only abstract concepts, but how to apply
them in a real world setting. A sense of accomplishment with the
completion of each exercise and section spurs the student to confidently
continue forward. Accordingly, nearly every page is self-contained,
with a clear topical heading at the top. The student will proceed
seamlessly and smoothly from page to page and from topic to topic
- in linear fashion.
This is an essential text and manual for any student wishing to
master the tools, concepts, and controversies in this exciting
field.
