The Department of Pharmacology at Tulane University School of Medicine teach an annual undergraduate
course designed to educate primarily juniors and seniors about drugs and their mechanisms of action.
Our course is a survey of general principles and the major drug groups. Students like the practical
nature of pharmacology and are aided by the extensive glossary of terms.
Dr. Beckman received her Ph.D. in pharmacology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and is currently a
professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Tulane University School of Medicine. She has published over
100 research papers in endocrine and cancer pharmacology and has taught undergraduates, graduate and medical
students for over 25 years.
