In addition to teaching technical courses in the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management at Texas A&M University, Michael Hnatt owns and operates a small software consulting firm that provides E-commerce and Information Technology solutions to the fair and expo industry. He has advised and participated in other successful E-business start-up firms, all of which now extend world-wide with prominent recognition in their industry. Michael has written feature articles ranging from philosophical — for the Mays Business School’s The Edge Magazine — to technical for industry-specific magazines such as Access VB-SQL Advisor and Fairs & Expos.

Prior to his teaching appointment at A&M, Michael worked in areas such as the space life-sciences industry (NASA), medical administration, and aquaculture (USDA sponsored research). He currently serves as the advisor for both the Business Administration Society (BAS) and Freshman Business Initiative (FBI). He has been a Namesake for both Fish Camp (‘Camp Hnatt’) in 2002 and the Aggie Access program in 2003. He has also served an active role in the new Honor System initiative delegated by the university president (Academic Integrity Task Force) in 2003. Michael actively engages in recruiting and informative functions involving activities such as guest speaking at high schools and freshman club events.

Michael’s professional interests include Web Application Development, E-Commerce, Information Technology Entrepreneurship, and Small Business Strategy.
