About the authors

Dr. Hueston is an assistant professor of criminal justice at West Texas A&M University. He has 30 years of law enforcement experience on numerous college campuses and in the military police. He has been either the Chief or Director of Public Safety Services for the past 22 years at Loyola Marymount University and the University of Arizona. He has been involved in directing numerous large scale public events, including the security of the Weightlifting Event during the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the 1997 NCAA Welcome Home Reception for the Men's Championship Basketball Team, numerous visits by dignitaries including President William Clinton and Secretary of State Madeline Albright. His educational background includes a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Education from Kent State University, two Master of Arts Degrees in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from the Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Bryan E. Vizzini is an assistant professor of history at West Texas A&M University, where he teaches Contemporary World History, U.S. History, and Latin American History. In addition to holding degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Georgia, and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (where he received his doctorate), he spent five years working for the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Public Safety. Campus visits from President Clinton, Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, and the Special Olympics gave him the opportunity to see security issues from a completely practical, non-academic perspective.

What the experts are saying about this book

"Dr. Hueston is extremely well versed on this topic and delivers it in an interesting and exciting way. His personal experience with prior major events lends tremendous credibility to his lectures and presentations. I would highly recommend it to anyone that has an interest in this field."

— Shawn Burns

"In a discussion of terrorism and world terrorists, Dr. Harry Hueston brings to the table a unique perspective that is often missing from other authorities. His presentation is always impressive because it combines the knowledge of an expert scholar with practical knowledge of a veteran law enforcement officer - book smart and street wise is a potent combination."

"To the student with limited knowledge of the history and motivations behind terrorism, this book proves to be an exemplary unbiased resource in which one can begin to understand terrorism outside the confines of our media."
